National Theatre Wales along with Wales Millennium Centre will, in September, be putting on a weekend festival to celebrate 100 years since Roald Dahl's birth. This promises to be one of the largest events the city and Wales will have seen with the aim to have 20,000 participants and an excess of 100,000 attendees. For the weekend of the 17th & 18th September Cardiff will become the ‘City of the Unexpected’ with various installations, events and street performances, tight rope walking foxes, animated gargoyles and more. The city centre will be transformed into a place where the laws of physics and civic predictability will give way to the laws of magic, mischief and the unexpected. The whole festival is being directed by a gentleman called Nigel Jamieson and Designed by Dan Potra. As a team they have delivered large scale events such as the Sydney Olympics opening ceremony and Liverpool City of Culture to name a few. In support of this imaginary feast, The Plan will be offering some of our own fantastical and unexpected things.
